Several Engagement and Experience (E&E) Teams to See Pause in their Work

The Engagement and Experience Teams have been a part of the many positive changes that have occurred at DeKalb Medical over the past few years. As our organization continues to make some very positive changes, we often need to review where our time is best spent.

The Engagement and Experience staff (E&E) have migrated to “real time” patient experience surveys, effective April 1. We expect this will result in an improved return rate, along with a more positive reflection of our patient services. However, this will be very demanding for E&E staff who provide vital support to the E&E teams. These “real time” surveys will be conducted for Inpatients, ED patients and Outpatients. To meet CMS requirements, we will still have to send out a limited number of surveys containing the HCAPS questions.

In addition, we need to allow many of the organization’s leaders and team members to focus on their integration duties associated with the Emory partnership.

To this end, DeKalb Medical leadership has decided to pause a number of the Engagement and Experience Teams:

*Access * Emergency Department Experience

* Inpatient Experience * Outpatient Experience

* Patient Call Manager * Service Recovery *Standards of Behavior

We will pause the formal meeting processes and further initiative development until the end of the fiscal year which is June 30, when we will evaluate our next steps.

This is in no way indicative of the importance of the work the teams have done. Each of these teams has realized great accomplishments in their respective areas and the processes they have put in place will continue to positively impact our organization. We thank them for their work.
