Congratulations to this quarter’s three UnSung Hero recipients and seven honored nominees:



Bert Vaughan Audiovisual Specialist Sr. / ODL Bert Vaughan has always been the perfect example of a team player. He consistently goes “above and beyond.” He works exceptionally hard and is such an expert at his craft. Often working behind the scenes, Bert pulls together all of DeKalb medical’s audio-visual needs.


Ruth Patterson Patient Care Technician / 4200 Oncology I fell in love with how well she cared for me. She took the time to actually talk to me, even though her schedule was super busy. today, I spoke to her about my night last night, and I broke into tears. she gave me a hug, dried my tears, and told me that the sun is going to shine bright


 Gabriela Carpio Front Office Coord/Med Asst / Beaver Ruin Primary Care Gabriela Carpio assisted a patient who mentioned that she wasn’t feeling well. The patient was having a medical emergency while on the phone with Gabriela. Gabriela alerted the practice manager, and they called 911. They waited on the phone with the patient until ems arrived.
